No more anxiety

How I overcame anxiety and depression

I write specifically on worship in spirit and truth, in particular on how I overcame anxiety and depression, but for this purpose, I will break it up into chunks of pages and continue on my blog site. As you read and journey with me, I will explain how I am healed and have no more anxiety and depression.

Yet the hour is coming and is now here when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. For the Father seeks such to worship Him. God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.” John 4: 23 – 24.

The scripture above stood out for me as I began my search on how to worship God in spirit and truth and became a true worshipper. My goal is to point you to the Bible, where God connects with us, and where we find the substance for renewing our minds. The word of God is alive and active when you ask the Holy Spirit to help you in your understanding and revelation of scripture.

My healing would not have been possible without the guidance of the Holy Spirit and revelation from the word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit of truth. Through a study in the Bible on worship, I was inadvertently renewing my mind. Consequently, as I memorized scripture, prayed, and obeyed the Holy Spirit’s leading, I received freedom from the rule of the spirit of fear and suicidal tendencies.

No fear, no more anxiety and depression

The nature of fear no longer rules my life and controls my thoughts. I now operate with a heart of love, power, and self-control according to the word of God. People live in defeat because of a lack of knowledge and real identity through Jesus Christ. Show yourself approved by taking on Jesus’ identity and live the way Jesus lived on the earth.

Chapter 1 – Jesus You complete me

Be made whole and complete through Jesus Christ so that you can live more abundantly. In the movie “Jerry Maguire,” Tom Cruise’s character quotes a famous saying, “You complete me.” On the contrary, no person on earth is capable of making you whole. You cannot balance your weaknesses with someone you think has more strength. You are not “half” of someone else. Jesus is the only one who can complete you and make you whole.

Colossians 2:10 declares that we are complete in Jesus, who is the head of all authority and power. When you identify with Jesus and clothe yourself with His character, then you can complement your partner. Your real identity is perfect through Jesus Christ.

No discrimination with Jesus

There is no more discrimination – we are all one in Christ. Through Jesus, God sees you as a whole person, a temple for God to dwell in through the Holy Spirit. When you surrender your soul to God and begin to see with your spiritual eyes, you will be able to worship in spirit and truth. Now you can exercise control over the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5: 16 – 17 says that the flesh lusts against the spirit and the spirit against the flesh, which is an ongoing battle that we face daily. Our warfare is not carnal but spiritual. Likewise, the battle starts in your mind.

Ephesians 6: 12 “Our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

What you see and what you feel around us can sometimes result in overload. To this end, we have to balance and filter out all the unnecessary and detrimental onslaughts in our minds. God does not require us to offer anything on the altar but our lives. You are the temple for God’s Spirit to reside. For this reason, you need to cleanse your “temple” in mind, spirit, and body.

1 Corinthians 3: 16 – “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

You need spiritual guidance

I started writing about worship during one of the most challenging times I experienced. With the result, I discovered that true worship is not an outward ritual experience but a spiritual walk in faith. Accordingly, I found that the importance of the Old Testament’s history coincides with our walk of salvation.

Once you become a born again believer, this is the first step in your spiritual walk with Jesus Christ. For this reason, you need the guidance of the Holy Spirit in every circumstance and area of your life. The Holy Spirit guides me in my process of spiritual transformation; of this, I am convinced. In fact, His guidance is what changed me from a believer to a worshipper. Relying on His advice drew me closer to God, and in like manner, I understand now what it means to worship in spirit and truth.

Worship healed me from anxiety and depression

Worship in spirit and truth has affected me in such a profound way that I need to share how God has healed me. My goal is to encourage believers. To let you know that there is healing from mental diseases through the power of Jesus Christ. Many in the body of Christ have been battling as they have not renewed and transformed their minds. Some have turned away from the faith and taken their own lives. Jesus provides us with all the tools to overcome every onslaught from the enemy. We must learn how to fight back and not be content with mediocrity. Your spiritual goal should be a transformation into the person of Jesus Christ.

Here is an account of a dream I received on 29 July 2019

God revealed to me how injured His people are in the body of Christ:

“I am walking on a road and see many people dressed in athletic attire behind one another. Walking closer towards them, I can see that they are hurt. Some injuries are quite significant. (I have always avoided the scene of an accident, as I do not like seeing blood and people hurt. The images would linger in my mind, and I would find it difficult to get rid of). I could not look at the injuries and place my hand over the side of my face. Every person on that road had some form of injury. I see that their injuries vary in comparison, and I feel compassion and grief.”

Your mind must be renewed – No more anxiety

Let the same mind which was in Christ Jesus be in you so that you can serve the law of God with your understanding (Romans 7: 25). You must renew your mind to discern the spiritual things of God and overcome carnal thinking.

The renewing of your thoughts is a process you have to work at, which takes conscious mental effort and practice. Regular going to church to listen to the weekly sermon does not guarantee a renewal of your mind. We come together as the church (1 Corinthians 11: 18), not to the church. You are the temple of worship through Jesus and part of the body of Christ – not the building or the sect of Christianity. Worship does not only take place in a church building or gathering. Worship is about how you live your life and how you glorify God through your life.

The time you spend in His presence with your thoughts, the sacrifices you bring to Him through denying your flesh, is part of your worship to God. Jesus is the head of the church, and we, as individuals, make up the body of Christ to bring our sacrifices of praise and encourage each other. The Holy Spirit of God lives inside and inhabits the praises of His people – not through a building.

Seek the Lord in prayer, read the Bible, and connect with other believers. Pray and ask God to reveal the areas where you need help. Over-comers stay true to the end and pray continually. You cannot serve Him half lest sin comes in and tempts you away.
