Worship

You may think of worship in the context of music and singing as I did a few years ago.  I had no idea that worship is much more than praising God with your lips. Two scriptures stood out for me when I started a search on worship in the Bible. The first scripture is, as Jesus said, the first and foremost commandment.

Matthew 22: 37 – 40, Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

I realized that I did not love God with all my heart, mind, and soul, so how can I love God in that way I thought? I will continue in my blog posts to explain how I know that I do love God as Jesus described.

The second scripture is found in John 4 verse 23 – 24. “Yet the hour is coming and is now here, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth. For the Father seeks such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth.”

My journey of discovery through worship

My knowledge of worship before was of singing praise and worship songs in church on Sundays. Besides I had no idea that I needed to worship God with my life. As an artist, I began with my search in the Bible, looking for the scriptures around music and singing.

During my search, the Holy Spirit guided me and took me on a journey of discovery in the Bible which is still on-going. Accordingly, I began finding the answers for my spiritual life, areas that I did not even know were lacking. I discovered that I needed to live a life dedicated to pleasing and bringing glory to God in every area of my life.

The first step to worship in spirit and truth is to be born-again. Above all, you must accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour, He is the way, the truth, and the life to God the Father.  You must be a true worshipper – in spirit and truth.
